Nitrox Certification Course
Description
This course is to provide the diver with information necessary to utilize nitrox as a breathing medium. You may take this course alone or we can integrate the training into either the Scuba Diver course or with Advanced Open Water course.
Goals
Upon successful completion graduates are considered competent to utilize EANx up to EAN40 in diving activities without direct supervision provided the areas dove and conditions approximate those used in training.
Prerequisites
Must have NAUI Scuba Diver certification or equivalent unless taken in combination with the NAUI Scuba Diver course.
Gear required
Student must have their own gear unless taking this in combination with Scuba Diver course. Tanks must be O2 Clean.
Academics
Hours TBD. Topics to include history of Nitrox as a breathing gas. Dalton's law of partial pressures, Physiology of oxygen and nitrogen, depth limits, advantages and disadvantages, precautions of handling oxygen, use of nitrox tables and computers, common mixing processes and gas analyzing.
Pool work
No pool work required.
Dives
Students are required to plan and execute 2 Nitrox dives for Nitrox certification.
NAUI standards do not require dives for their recognition program but we want to see divers in the water as much as possible.
Included in the course
Plastic nitrox dive tables for EAN 32 and 36, book, nitrox certifican card and certification fee.
